Jezero crater, Mars: application of the deep learning NOAH-H terrain classification system

چکیده
We applied a deep learning terrain classification system, the ‘Novelty or Anomaly Hunter – HiRISE’ (NOAH-H), originally developed for ExoMars landing sites in Oxia Planum and Mawrth Vallis, to Mars 2020 Perseverance rover site Jezero crater. NOAH-H successfully classified four HiRISE images of even though landforms study area were slightly different from those training dataset. mosaicked rasters compared them with manually generated photogeological map, Ingenuity helicopter images. find that grouped classes correspond well humanmade map individual are corroborated by available ground-truth conclude our products can be refined feeding into traversability analysis Rosalind Franklin at they also used aid mapping process.

Stratigraphy and Evolution of Delta Channel Deposits, Jezero Crater, Mars
Introduction: The Jezero impact crater hosted an open-basin lake [1] that was active during the valley network forming era on early Mars [2]. This basin contains a well exposed delta deposit at the mouth of the western inlet valley (Fig. 1) [1,3-5]. The fluvial stratigraphy of this deposit provides a record of the channels that built the delta over time. Here we describe observations of the str...
متن کاملAssessing the mineralogy of the watershed and fan deposits of the Jezero crater paleolake system, Mars
We present results from geomorphic mapping and visible to near-infrared spectral analyses of the Jezero crater paleolake basin and its associated watershed. The goal of this study is to understand the provenance of the sedimentary deposits within this open-basin lake using a source-to-sink approach. Two fan deposits located within the basin have distinct visible to near-infrared mineralogic sig...
متن کاملAn overfilled lacustrine system and progradational delta in Jezero crater, Mars Implications for Noachian climate
The presence of valley networks and open-basin lakes in the late Noachian is cited as evidence for overland flow of liquid water and thus a climate on early Mars that might have supported precipitation and runoff. Outstanding questions center on the nature of such a climate, its duration and variability, and its cause. Open basin lakes, their interior morphology, and their associated channels p...
متن کاملDeep Feature Learning for Acoustics-Based Terrain Classification
In order for robots to efficiently navigate in real-world environments, they need to be able to classify and characterize terrain for safe navigation. The majority of techniques for terrain classification is predominantly based on using visual features. However, as vision-based approaches are severely affected by appearance variations and occlusions, relying solely on them incapacitates the abi...
متن کاملBulk mineralogy of the NE Syrtis and Jezero crater regions of Mars derived through thermal infrared spectral analyses
We investigated the area to the northwest of the Isidis impact basin (hereby referred to as “NW Isidis”) using thermal infrared emission datasets to characterize and quantify bulk surface mineralogy throughout this region. This area is home to Jezero crater and the watershed associated with its two deltaic deposits in addition to NE Syrtis and the strong and diverse visible/near-infrared spectr...
